Advisory Group to Recommend Priorities for the IARC Monographs during 2025–2029
Lyon, France
19–22 March 2024
CALL FOR EXPERTS
CLOSING DATE: 31 JULY 2023
IARC is seeking scientists who wish to be considered for membership in the Advisory Group to Recommend Priorities for the IARC Monographs.
Advisory Group Members prepare and review preliminary pre-meeting materials and participate in a 4-day meeting regarding the priorities for agents to be evaluated by the IARC Monographs. Members will be expected to make substantial contributions to the drafting of an Advisory Group report (see recent example at https://monographs.iarc.who.int/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/IARCMonographs-AGReport-Priorities_2020-2024.pdf).
Eligible scientists generally have published significant research related to carcinogenicity of environmental, behavioural, or occupational factors that can increase the risk of human cancer, or in exposure characterization for carcinogens. They may also have expertise in carcinogen testing and/or in carcinogen hazard evaluation. IARC is especially interested in finding: (a) scientists whose relevant work may not be found through standard literature searches; and (b) scientists who work in countries that have been under-represented in past Advisory Groups. Nomination of women and of candidates from low- and middle-income countries is particularly encouraged.
Self-nominations are encouraged. Each nomination should include:
- Curriculum vitae of the proposed candidate.
- Separate list of the candidate’s publications that are relevant to the study and evaluation of carcinogenicity. Sponsors of each article published during the past 4 years should be identified on the WHO Declaration of Interests form.
- WHO Declaration of Interests form to disclose associations with parties that have an interest in any agent that may be reviewed by the IARC Monographs programme.
Please send your nominations before the closing date by email to priorities@iarc.who.int.
Public nominations of experts will be combined with those identified by IARC. IARC will select an interdisciplinary Advisory Group based on: (a) knowledge and experience; and (b) absence of real or perceived conflicts of interests. Consideration will also be given to gender balance and demographic diversity. Self-nominees will be informed about the outcome after the closing date. IARC will send preliminary invitations to the experts selected. Their names and principal affiliations will be available on this website.
Thank you for your interest in the IARC Monographs.
Mary Schubauer-Berigan, Head of the IARC Monographs programme
