IARC Monographs – Scientific Workshop

SCIENTIFIC WORKSHOP ON KEY CHARACTERISTICS-ASSOCIATED END-POINTS FOR EVALUATING MECHANISTIC EVIDENCE OF CARCINOGENIC HAZARDS

Lyon, France

25–28 JULY 2023

The IARC Monographs programme will conduct a scientific workshop convening experts in various disciplines (toxicology, cancer biology, epidemiology, and regulatory toxicology) who will examine and discuss issues related to the reporting and interpretation of results under the key characteristics (KCs) of carcinogens framework for the evaluation of mechanistic evidence. The themes explored during the workshop will be: interpretation of end-points forming the evidence base for the KCs in exposed humans and in experimental systems; incorporation of data from emerging assays and biomarkers in the KCs; and integration of the mechanistic evidence as part of cancer hazard identification.

REQUEST FOR OBSERVER STATUS

CLOSING DATE: 25 APRIL 2023

In the interest of transparency, Observers with relevant scientific credentials are welcome to attend this workshop. Observers can play a valuable role in ensuring that all scientific perspectives are considered. At the same time, Observers are invited to observe the meeting and should not attempt to influence it. This includes a requirement not to contact participants before the workshop or to lobby them at any time. In requesting Observer status, it is understood that you agree to respect the Guidelines for Observers at IARC Monographs Meetings.

Requests for Observer status should include:

  1. Curriculum vitae or résumé of the proposed Observer
  2. Name and description of the sponsoring organization (Observers pay their own travel, hotel, and other expenses)
  3. WHO Declaration of Interests to disclose associations with parties that have an interest in the issues discussed
  4. Code of Conduct
  5. Confidentiality Undertaking.

Please send your nominations before the closing date by email (imo-secretary@iarc.who.int).

IARC will select Observers with attention to achieving a balance of Observers from constituencies with differing perspectives. To give all parties an opportunity to nominate Observers, IARC will select Observers after the closing date and send their invitations approximately 1 month later. IARC may grant later requests if space is available and if it would improve the diversity or balance among Observers.

REPRESENTATIVES

IARC also welcomes the participation of Representatives of national and international health agencies, depending on available space (closing date for applications, 25 April 2023). Please contact IARC at imo-secretary@iarc.who.int for further information.

Thank you for your interest in the IARC Monographs programme.
